“I truly left with more room to breathe, and I’m so grateful for the space you held for us all.”

For the women who have lost their mothers.
A Mother's Day weekend at a private estate in the Texas Hill Country. Rest, a long table, good company, and women who understand without being told.
If Mother’s Day is hard for you because you have lost yours, come be in good company.
The brunch reservations. The cards in the grocery aisle. The phone that does not ring. The year you are expected to be fine by now, and are not. You do not have to spend that Sunday performing fine. Spend it with women who already understand.
hava is holding that weekend for Black women whose mothers are gone. Not a grief group and not a party. A house in the hills, a table set before you arrive, mornings that start slow, and a room full of women who do not need the story explained. You can say her name here. You can also say nothing at all.
The shape of the weekend
- fridayArrive in the afternoon. Dinner at golden hour, dressed up if you like.
- saturdayBreath and movement in the morning. A long table at midday. Time by the water, time in a circle, and time that is yours alone. Saturday is also the day to come for the day, if you cannot stay the weekend.
- sundayMother's Day. A slow morning and a proper close together before anyone drives home. Nobody spends it alone unless she chooses to.
Eight seats for the whole weekend. Twenty-five for Saturday. Rooms, meals, and everything held inside the days are included for the women who stay. The price of a seat and the full itinerary come to the list first, before anything is public.

Maybe she is your sister. Maybe she sits two desks down and goes quiet every May. You can give her the weekend outright, a seat carried in her name, or send her this page and let her choose it for herself. Both count as showing up.

From the women who stayed the weekend in October
“Healing is not always a solo endeavor. There is value in sharing your story with others and receiving support from like-minded individuals.”
“The care and intention you put into your events. It is seen and felt.”
